Mac OS X IM Clients

TiBookSo I’ve mainly been working on my TiBook since I’ve been in SF. The view from the apt is so great in the living room that it’s hard to be tied to the PC.. what with the oppressive desk-facing-the-wall and all. Anyway.. more to the point – I just reviewed all of the “multi service” IM clients for OS X.. again. For those who are curious. The clear winner is once again Proteus. If you need ICQ, AIM, MSN, and Yahoo the choices seem fairly limited. It’s either Proteus or Fire. I much prefer Proteus, mainly because of the layout. Proteus is clean and efficient… it takes up far less screen realestate than Fire –which is important considering Mac notebooks don’t have super high resolution. Fire works well enough.. and I didn’t use it long enough to enumerate the differences in how well fire handles the difficult protocols such as MSN and Yahoo… but I know that Proteus works well with everything. –This post has been an attempt to impart some usefull information to any poor schmuck that my be conducting a similar search… ahh.. now back to the worthless self gratifying type of blogging…
