Stupid IE tricks

I’m sure this is well documented somewhere. But it’s just another example of how stupid Internet Explorer is and how complacent MS has been for the last 7 years.

Here’s a totally unintentional yet effective DOS attack against IE. Point IE to a website with an expired SSL certificate… such as this and be prepared to launch “Task Manager” and kill IE…

How dumb is this… IE will prompt the user for every single http (SSL) call on the page. Every image, (includng the transparent little 1 pixel spacers) etc. So on a site like the one above, which has a lot little images one it, you have to click “yes” about 40 times to get the page to load, or “no” 40 times to even to abort loading the “non-secure” page… either click 40 times, or end the task… those are your choices.

On a positive note… things are converging in such a way which makes me believe that XP will be the last MS operating system I’ll have to use. :)
